Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Conference Agenda

Overview

The Canadian Society of Forensic Science 2020 Conference will feature many exciting talks by current and future forensic scientists, law enforcement officials, and members of the legal and educational communities. Below is a tentative schedule of conference events conveniently separated by day. The schedule is subject to change.

Minimizing Our Footprint

The Canadian Society of Forensic Science and the 2020 conference organizers are devoted to minimizing our environmental impact during the event. One of the ways we are doing this is by eliminating print agendas and reducing the quantity of disposable swag. Here are ways you can make this change easier:

  • Access the agenda via your device during the event
  • Bring and wear your own name tag
  • Take notes on an electronic device

Code of Conduct

In addition to the professional code of conduct outlined by the Canadian Society of Forensic Science, the 2020 Conference Organizing Committee is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media. Conference participants violating these rules may be expelled from the conference at the discretion of the conference organizers.
