Title: Applying Wireless Sensor Networks and Machine Learning to forecast flash floods in urban rivers

Abstract: Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) can be deployed to monitor the environment. Several municipalities use WSNs to monitor local rivers. However, the traditional approaches can only detect, but not predict, flash floods. In this talk, I will discuss my study on how to apply machine-learning techniques to help a WSN forecast flash floods in urban rivers.
